For the first time ever, most parents in the U.S. think their children will be worse off than themselves, according to polling by the Pew Foundation. A depressing thought in itself, but more concerning is that this survey result signals a pessimism that is so uncharacteristic of American people. People are now saying in effect, my children will not be able to do better no matter how hard they try, and furthermore there is nothing I can do to make my children's lot better.
